If you’re seriously using LinkedIn to network on the go, it’s definitely quality over quantity
Don’t connect with every Tracy, Trina and Harriet. Connect with people you actually know, have met before (even once or twice) or spoken to live or virtually.
As an HR Director, even I’ve started being more selective about who I connect within have gone so far as to begin removing connections that simply don’t add value. So, in this week’s video, here are some Dos and Don’ts to make LinkedIn work better for you.
Do connect when you need to actually connect
Think long term connections here vs. a quick hit. If you have a specific ask, invest in LinkedIn premium and get the ability to send an InMail.
Don’t connect with a stranger and then ask for a favor
If you’re doing it, so are others. Plus it’s just obnoxious.
Do Be Specific
Don’t send a blanket note about how awesome you are and how you’d be great at any job. Tailor the note to a specific person about a specific job, in a specific location.
Now comes the fun part, I get to listen to you! So tell me, was this helpful? Leave a comment below, share your thoughts with other viewers and sign up for email updates. You never know how your voice will impact someone’s life. Need some personalized career attention? Work with me and get 10x the career love and attention.
The corporate world needs that brilliance that only you bring. So go out into the world, act with conviction, be courageous and live joyfully every single day.
