The resume revamp can be tough, but sometimes quick can still be super effective.  In this week’s video, you’ll learn a no-fail 10 minute tip for when your resume needs a jump start.

Choose Your Words Wisely

Research has shown that you only have 6 to 7 seconds to make an impact on the recruiter viewing your resume.  The #1 tip I can give you is to take specific targeted keywords from the job description and strategically maneuver them into your resume.

Focus on skills, talents and abilities that surface, three or more times, in the basic and/or preferred qualifications. A job description is your birds eye view into the mind of the hiring manager and recruiter.  They are the equivalent of a company’s match.com profile, so pay close attention to it.

Keep in mind, not every job description is the same.  If you want to apply to six different Financial Analysts roles, look at each of the job descriptions and go through the same exercise for each.  Different companies have different focus areas, so don’t assume once you’ve tweaked your resume once, you’re done.  Each application needs its own 10 minute resume revamp.

Now comes the fun part, I get to listen to you!  So tell me, was this helpful?  Leave a comment below, share your thoughts with other viewers and sign up for email updates.  You never know how your voice will impact someone’s life.  Need some personalized career attention?  Work with me and get 10x the career love and attention.
